Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV)
A plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is another form of NEV that combines an internal combustion engine with an electric motor. It typically runs on electric power first, switching to the engine once the battery is depleted.
PHEVs can be charged externally using home chargers or public charging points, making them well suited to longer journeys by helping to reduce range anxiety. When the battery is empty, the engine takes over to ensure smooth and uninterrupted driving.
To power its PHEVs, BYD has developed its advanced Super DM Technology, a cutting-edge hybrid system that enhances performance while maintaining low fuel consumption. Models carrying the “DM” or “DM-i” designation feature this innovative hybrid technology.
