How is BYD Super DM different?

What are the benefits?

When fully charged, the vehicle operates in pure electric mode for a fully EV driving experience. As the battery level decreases, it automatically transitions into an ultra-low fuel consumption hybrid mode, continuing to prioritise electric propulsion while relying on minimal fuel use.

This efficient, eco-conscious system optimises energy usage, reduces fuel consumption, and maintains a smooth, quiet ride—without compromising on performance, power, or responsiveness.

The three core components of Super DM Technology

BYD Super DM technology is made up of 3 core components:

Electric Hybrid System (EHS)

The Electric Hybrid System (EHS) features a highly integrated powertrain that brings together high-speed dual motors, dual controllers, and advanced oil-cooling technology.

This sophisticated setup enhances motor power density while improving overall system efficiency, delivering a more capable and refined hybrid driving experience.

The EHS utilises powerful high-speed dual motors capable of reaching up to 15,000 rpm. In this setup, the P1 motor is responsible for generating power, while the P3 motor drives the wheels, delivering strong and consistent performance across a wide range of driving conditions.

With advanced hairpin winding technology, the system significantly improves heat dissipation, achieving peak efficiency of up to 97% and maintaining stability above 90% in most operating scenarios.

Targeted oil-cooling technology further enhances thermal management, allowing heat to be dissipated more effectively and increasing motor power density to a maximum of 5.5 kW/kg.

An IGBT-based, highly integrated dual-motor controller completes the system, raising electronic control efficiency to an impressive 98.9% and ensuring precise, responsive power delivery.

Xiaoyun 1.5L/1.5T Hybrid engine

Purpose-built for Super DM Technology, the Xiaoyun engine combines world-class thermal efficiency with a compact, optimised design.

This advanced engineering enables strong peak power and torque output, delivering impressive performance while maintaining excellent overall efficiency.

A large capacity Blade Battery

BYD Super DM Technology incorporates a specially adapted version of the acclaimed Blade Battery, engineered specifically for hybrid applications. With capacities starting from 18.3 kWh, it enables a pure electric driving range of up to 43 miles.

Enhanced Safety
The Blade Battery has successfully passed the stringent Nail Penetration Test without catching fire or emitting smoke, demonstrating exceptional safety performance.

Optimised Strength
Each cell is designed to function as a structural beam within the pack, improving resistance to external forces. An aluminium honeycomb-inspired structure, reinforced with high-strength upper and lower panels, enhances vertical rigidity.

Extended Range
Compared with conventional battery designs, the Blade Battery improves space utilisation by around 50%, increasing energy density and contributing to a longer driving range.

Longer Lifespan
Engineered for durability, the Blade Battery is capable of withstanding more than 5,000 charge and discharge cycles, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
